The Linguistic Analysis of Selected Podcasts

This bachelor thesis deals with a relatively new phenomenon of the journalistic genre - the podcast. The aim of the work is to determine its language specifics. In the theoretical part, the podcast, as a new genre, is introduced and specified. Related terms are defined in this part too. Furthermore, selected podcasts are introduced in this section. The practical part is central to the thesis. It is based on linguistic analysis of specific speeches. The analysis focuses mainly on linguistic variations, peculiarities and shortcomings. For the best possible clarity, it is divided into subchapters according to linguistic levels. After the pilot survey podcasts that can be classified as educational were selected for the bachelor's thesis. Despite their similarity, they are diverse. In addition to the analysis itself, the result of the thesis is an evaluation of typical features, placing in a theoretical framework and drawing a conclusion in which the results of the research are confronted with hypotheses. Linguistic Analysis of Internet Hip Hop Magazines

The thesis deals with the language used in online hip hop magazines. The objective is to describe the language that is characteristic of such magazines. The language is analysed against the backdrop of journalistic style and its genres, and the standard language norm. The language analysis includes articles published in Bbarák and HipHopStage magazines. The thesis also defines hip hop and briefly describes its history, including the beginnings of hip hop music journalism. The practical section of the thesis provides a language analysis of articles published in the selected magazines. It describes the composition of the articles and focuses on the ways to connect with readers. The section also focuses on the orthographic quality of the articles. The final outcome of the analysis is a description of individual language levels, while highlighting characteristic features of the language in online hip hop magazines.

Student slang: formal and semantic analysis of Spanish in comparison with Czech

This bachelor's thesis focuses on students' slang in both the Spanish and the Czech language, where it is further illuminated by semantic and formal analysis. The work is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical section deals with the characteristic linguistic features of student slang, which is primarily defined from a lexicological point of view and also presents the most common processes of student slang formation. The practical section uses a questionnaire survey to record the slang and informal expressions currently used by Czech and Spanish university students, and subsequently clarifies them by means of a comparative analysis. The work is supplemented by a small Spanish- Czech glossary of student "slangisms".

Standard and non-standard language in printed media communication and its impact on discussions about standard language

The present Master's thesis analyses language means in printed media with a particular focus on national daily newspapers from the second trimester of 1993. That year, there was an important linguistic conference on standardised Czech and language culture. The analysis examines especially language means that deviate from the standardised norm of the language. The theoretical part discusses key concepts, such as norm and codification or national language and its varieties. The understanding of these terms is critical for the analytical part of the thesis where language means used in printed media are being analysed using quantitative content analysis. The aim of this analysis is to describe their motivation of use and function. The results are then compared with the proceedings of the 1993 conference on standardised Czech and language culture held in Olomouc. The thesis provides a clear view on how the occurrence of non-standardised language means in media influences academic discussion on standardised Czech.

The Spanish Insults

"The Spanish Insults" The objective of the present paper was to explore, as the title indicates, the rich variety of the Spanish insults. We centered mainly on the comparison of the Spanish insults to the Czech insults and observed the diferences and specific characteristics of Spanish insults. We began the first part with the definition of formal and informal language and its sociolects, because we believe that it helps to understand the properties of the insults, since they have many common characteristics with the sociolects. Afterwards, we tried to describe the historical and cultural backgrounds, because due to different evolutions in each country, the habits to use insults and curses are different, especially concerning the curses, which are still very common in Spain. In Czech Republic the curses fell into oblivion during the last century, while the people were becoming more atheistic. The role of taboo is also very important, because in each society, taboo is what's influencing the usage and the importance of every insult. Neverthless, the insults don't serve only for attacking somebody or to show disappointment, but they also have other functions, such as identifying with the members of the group or to address someone in a friendly way. Researcher's interest to changes, development and proper use of language is still continue to grow. Especially the mass media language attracts the attention of researchers, because during the process of studying it can be clearly observed the processes of the development and changes of the language. This work is devoted to the phenomenon of the Russian language - subprime vocabulary. This topic is relevant today and it is still being studied by the linguists. Feature of this work consists of the increased attention to the vocabulary itself and to the content of the mass media test. This work reveals the history, development and styles of the vocabulary as well as the functions and features of the mass media language. Works of the Russian linguists, such as G.Y. Solganik, V.V. Vinogradov, L.V. Szczerba, L.A. Vvedenskaya, Y.S. Maslov etc became as the base of this work. Slang of the youth in Russian language

The aim of this rigorosum thesis is to give an insight on the problematics of colloquial language layer of Russian youth. The theoretical part is based on studies dealing with stylistic and sociolinguistic stratification of language. Further only colloquial formations are being dealt with, focusing on such concepts as "slang", "general slang" and "mat" and introducing ways of forming slang phrases. The practical part analyses written and oral text and subsequently acquired data is being compared and evaluated. The performed analysis illustrates how quickly the youth's slang is being updated and enriched with new expressions and which lexical units are being given preference by the older youth. The main contribution of this work is its relevance, as the research of this topic quickly becomes outdated.

Analysis of public speeches

This work inspects technical speeches of guides and teachers from the point of view of stylistics, morphology, syntax and lexicology. The main aim is to detect the presence of colloquial elements and mainly non-standard elements. It is divided into two parts, theoretical and research. The theoretical part deals with speeches themselves, their dividing, stylistic aspects and shortly also with specification of standard and non-standard language. The research part than analyses the concrete speeches, it studies the frequency of colloquial and non-standard elements and in detail it describes the chosen phenomenon.
